Travels with Travis Pt 1

For the last 2 weeks Travis and I have been taking an hour walk right before the sun goes down.  Partly to save my sanity from daily stresses and from my lovable little barbarian aka.... Tyler Jack Wise (see pictures in previous post).  Also it's a time for Travis and I to bond.

Travis and I begin our adventure.  He does not like when I stop to take pictures.  He wants me to keep on a movin'.

Home sweet home from a distance.

These stickers line the dirt road I walk.  They are unforgiving when I need to pass through them.

Hundreds of Dragonflies dart in and out of our trees during the evening.
This time is truly a magic time, even the pictures cannot translate how beautiful the plains are.  Currently we are in late summer and most grasses are turning and dying.  If you look closely one can see splashes of color amongst the beige of the plains.  The delicate flowers and seeded grass are in complete contrast to such a harsh environment. (Please forgive if I found some beauty in a noxious weed ;)  )

Never a dull moment

Tyler decided to test "new waters" with his markers.  He used himself as a canvas.

Narragansett

I came across a blog, http://babycocktails.blogspot.com/, where I found this beautiful yet modern knitted sweater.  I fell in love on first sight.  I ordered the Narragansett pattern today, and will order yarn and needles tomorrow. The pattern is like reading greek.  It is in code P1, k1, etc...(It gets much more complicated)  So I had to look up knitting abbreviations and then I had to look up videos on how to make certain types of stitches.  I have a feeling that this will be an adventure with many learning curves.

Book Club: The Carpet Baggers

I joined a book club about a year ago.  I LOVE books.  My husband jokes that my dream vacation would be for him to take the kids and leave me home so I could read.

Brothers

Where to begin??

It has been at least a year since I looked at this blog.  So much living has happened in the Wise household.  I guess the biggest life changing event would be the addition of Travis Wayne Wise on May 15th.  The first month was a big adjustment, but I am now looking back and wondering where the days went.  Soon my sweet baby will be 3 months.

Tyler is also rapidly changing from a toddler to a little boy.  He is talking and talking (did I say talking) up a storm.  When he hears a new word you can see his mind spinning and him savoring it.  He tries his parents patience daily, but says the cutest things that makes it all worth it.  What a busy boy, he is on the go from 5:30 in the morning until 8:00 at night.  Travis sleeps better than his brother.

Dustin is near the end of sprinkler checking.  He says that is the least favorite of his job, but he sure more than willing to check sprinklers when both the boys are screaming.  I think he likes being able to see the wildlife.  He is counting the days until turkey opening season.

As for me (um....where do I start) I decided to stay home and quit my job as the YHS art teacher.  I will miss the kids, being surrounded by art, and my all-by-myself hour in the car (especially the last one!)  I would solve all the worlds problems in an hour or I would play "what would I do if I won Powerball game."

The boys and I are beginning to develop a routine.  Sometimes we have successful days and sometimes we have not so successful days.  Overall I am happy with the decision I made and very blessed to have such heathy, sweet, and ornery boys (Dad included)
