Trip to Bonny

Last Sunday we headed down to Bonny State Park. It brought back many memories; I had worked at bonny for seven summers. The lake is so low, there are foundations and tree stumps surfacing. Dustin was excited about the opportunity to hunt geese.

Roman Nose Ridge

Up on Roman Nose Ridge the wind was blowing fiercely. Standing out on the ridge was worthwhile, just for the view. The buildings and monument stood below to the East and the river snaked to the West. We towered over the flat plains below.

The memorial

The building

This building fascinated me at Beecher Island. It felt like much history remained in the walls. It was covered with a deteriorating plaster. The pattern of age interested me. Looking in was, to say the least, creepy. My husband mentioned that it would be really spooky if someone was sitting in a row.

Beecher Island

We traveled to Beecher Island this weekend. Tyler has been giving us more sleep so we feel more adventurous. It was 60 degrees and the sun was out. Tyler decided to sleep through this trip. In a way it was a blessing because of the wind. He makes the funniest sounds as the wind shoots up his nose. He hasn't quite figured out how to breathe in a breeze.
Out on the plains water is a rarity. We have to travel many miles to witness a river; it's rather refreshing in this dry area. Cottonwoods and Elms spread out along the riverbed. Their skeletal frames tower over the flat landscape.
This was a very enjoyable Saturday.
