This winter has been especially dry this year. We have had a few 60 degree days (in December and January). The forecasters called for a foot of snow out on the plains. The snow maybe piled 3 inches high; however, we will enthusiastically take what we can get. As you can see in the pictures below our trees not to mention the crops will love the moisture. My 3 year old also loves tromping around in this winter wonderland. I enjoy watching the feeding frenzy of the birds. We have hundreds of finches and robins hanging out in the trees, in the bird bath, and around the bird feeder.

Estes Park
We headed up to Estes Park for a 3 night get away. Dustin and I were kicking ourselves for not going in the years past. I went to UNC which was is an hour away. We would have been kid free and could have taken advantage of the trails and snow shoeing.
Despite our extra load (Tyler and Travis) we had a great time. We drove through Rocky Mountain National Park, ate copious amounts of BBQ, attempted a trail, visited a museum, and watched the wildlife (the elk). All in all we had a blast.
A migration of Robins
Over the last week hundreds of robins will visit our place and drain the bird bath. It's quite a spectacle.
Tyler's abstraction
His focus is intense |
This is how Tyler takes pictures. He has to put on show for the cameras. |
and another keeper |
Ah yes....what a lovely experssion |
The final product |
I had to bribe him with chocolate to sit still and smile and not make a goofy face. |
